LSPECS users can send electronic laboratory submissions to the laboratory.
Sample details and analysis requests that would traditionally be included on a chain of custody (COC), can be provided to the lab via email, significantly reducing the risk of transcription errors and misinterpretation.
Handover information should still physically accompany the samples.
Data is sent in two formats:
| • | a human readable form suitable for manual transcription into laboratory systems, as below, as well as: |
| • | An xml format so that laboratories can automate this if they choose. |
Laboratories can manually enter the data from the visual representation provided, or automate this process.
