Typical ESdat Workflow
ESdat Online is a cloud-based system for collating and reporting environmental data. With ESdat Online you can:
|•||Store and access all you data from multiple laboratories in one location|
|•||Create tables and compare your data to pre-loaded environmental standards|
|•||Assess data quality, such as RPDs, with built in quality assurance tools|
|•||Capture, manage and report your field data such as water levels and field chemistry readings|
|•||Assign coordinates to your sampling locations to utilise the built in mapping functions|
|•||Create custom 'mini tables' with key information (such as exceedances) for use in your GIS systems|
|•||Plus much more….|
A typical ESdat workflow consists of three components:
|1.||Pre-field work - configuration and planning|
|2.||Field work - capture data|
|3.||Post-field work - interrogate and report data|
Prior to undertaking field work, some basic Project configuration should be completed in ESdat. Refer to Getting Started for the minimum setup required for importing Lab Reports into ESdat.
Things to consider setting up prior to loading data into ESdat include:

|•||Create Projects (required to import Lab Reports)|
|•||Add Locations (required to utilise mapping features)|
|•||Importing and managing Environmental Standards|
Field data can be captured in ESdat using the Field Portal. The Field Portal is designed to work on a PC or Tablet device.
The following data can be captured directly into ESdat using the Field Portal:
All samples submitted to a laboratory for analysis should include the ESdat Project ID and lab report email address. The easiest way to do this is to include both values on your chain-of-custody documentation. The laboratory needs the correct ESdat Project ID and email address to ensure that results are imported into the correct Project in ESdat. If these values are incorrect, you will need to spend additional time chasing up your Lab Reports. Refer to Getting Started for the minimum setup required for importing Lab Reports into ESdat.
ESdat has many built in Reports and Views for interrogating both field and laboratory data.
Once field and lab data has been successfully loaded into ESdat you may want to:
|•||Create chemistry tables from Lab Reports|
|▪||Reconcile QA/QC samples|
|▪||Assign and compare results with Environmental Standards|
|▪||Customise Chem Profiles: Chem Names, Chem Groups and Chem orders|
|•||Generate other Reports|
